state of my three month goals

I am just over halfway through the time period set to accomplish my last set of 3 month goals. It's time to assess where I am at with each of these.

1. Run faster:  I thought this one would be the easiest, but it I am actually having the least success with this goal of the three. My hip joint has a nagging dysfunction and now it is painful to run at all. I don't know if this was caused by running the gnarly trail half marathon or by overdoing the crossfit. I'm working on it with chiropractic and PT but right now I can't run at all. This is depressing and hard. The races I had planned are probably not going to happen.

In the meantime I am doing a lot of biking and swimming, and crossfit as my body will allow. I have decided to do Ironman Coeur d'Alene in June after all because it seems that a hard running season is not to be for me this year.  I am still working on the leaning out/eating paleo thing, which is an indirect part of the run faster goal, and am seeing some progress there.

not there yet but someday....

2. Save money for a house. This is going extremely well. I am on track as planned and have had a business opportunity come my way that will most likely make buying a house possible this year.

3. Laugh and smile more. This is going well too. Doing frivolous things is good. I have noticed that when I make the effort to smile more it becomes a way of being. Hard personal issues roll off me easier when I have a steady state of happiness within. Allowing myself to have fun has also led the way for me to start getting reacquainted with playing bass and guitar, and to take a literature class. I am not running as much but I am spending a lot more time reading books. Life feels rich and full when I make space for art and creative pursuits.

Setting these three goals has opened me up for working on a lot of things all at once. There is a lot of movement happening right now.
